It is a forward thinking, inter-disciplinary and research active department, which offers undergraduate programmes in Law (LLB), Criminology & Psychology, Criminology & Sociology and Social Sciences; together with Masters programmes in Social Work, Forensic Psychology, and Terrorism and Counter-Terrorism Studies. The Department is also home to an energetic research community and prides itself on its commitment to social justice which is underlined in its teaching, research and external activities.

We seek an outstanding teacher and researcher to join our dynamic and multidisciplinary team. The Lecturer in Law post is offered on the teaching focussed track which requires colleagues to engage in scholarship activities, defined by the University as ‘[t]he systematic study of the processes and outcomes of teaching, learning and assessment in such a way that it advances teaching and can be shared with others, as well as applied to teaching and learning contexts. It also includes keeping up with the scholarship of others.’

The position will involve teaching undergraduate core subjects on our LLB Course. And, we are interested in candidates with teaching expertise on Equity and Trusts, Land law, Professional Legal Skills, Family Law, Financial Crime and Medical law. We are also keen to develop our teaching portfolio in other areas of undergraduate and postgraduate levels of teaching, including the supervision of doctoral students and the development of specialist options to reflect specific areas of expertise. We expect applicants to possess a broad range of skills needed to teach effectively as well as academic leadership and an effective contribution to programme or department administration or projects improving the student experience.

In return we offer a highly competitive rewards and benefits package including:

  • Generous annual leave entitlement
  • Training and Development opportunities
  • Pension Scheme with generous employer contribution
  • Various schemes including Cycle to Work, Season Ticket Loans and help with the cost of Eyesight testing.
  • Free parking
